You don't often hear about the tough seasons that carry on for years. The ones that break you down, take over your life, and leave scars you'd never imagined carrying. I'm here to say, it may seem like God doesn't care about your pain, but He does. And he's right here, walking next to you, whether you believe He can heal you or not. 1. Name your hard things & emotions consuming youIn 2022, I had three ER visits and three surgeries. One of the hardest things I've ever done is managed the countless medical bills we received in the mail. At one time, we had about 30 medical bills open & needed to be paid. I was nauseous, overwhelmed, & nervous. After a lot of prayer, God helped me slow down my thinking. Many of the bills were due, so I started to sketch out a plan. 2. Make a loose timelineOne task a day got me very far. I organized each bill by due date and made a point to handle one bill each day or start a payment plan if possible. I say loose timeline because God definitely opened new doors constantly and I had to prepare myself to be ready. 3. Work, rest, & he will deliverI promise, this season will not last forever. I won't lie to you, some of these awful seasons can last for a year, but know there is an end. Try to talk to yourself nicely. I've found that dialing back on other things makes these hard seasons more manageable. For instance, I usually try to eat healthy & exercise once a week. During a hard season, I will focus on just one of these things, like picking healthy meals. I do the same thing with cleaning. Instead of telling myself what I have to get done, I do the dishes & whatever else I have the energy for, is enough. Letting myself rest more is one of the best ways I experience healing. Jesus knows the pain I am feeling, so I try to remind myself that He is working behind the scenes while I am resting. He is our Wonderful Counselor. Let Him do the heavy lifting & trust that He is making a way for you. Thanks for coming by. I hope these are helpful tips for surviving the hard season you're in. Remember, if everyone in your family is fed and safe, things are okay. Do not put too much pressure on yourself. Survival is what matters. You can do this.
