You wake up and your phone reads 7:10am. You usually leave for work at 7:25am! In ten minutes, you scoot on dirty jeans, manage to brush your teeth, and hit brew on the coffee pot! However, your to-go cups are dirty, so you grab a mug and splash it full with coffee. You hop in the car, hit the road, and on every bump, your mug of coffee sloshes on your console, and even worse your outfit! Is this ever your morning? This happens to me way to often. In March, my plan is to slow down. This is how I'm going to do it... 1. mid week bible studyI've noticed my anxiety is pretty high in the middle of the week. I watch church on Sunday and by Wednesday, my worries have reappeared. When I make time in the middle of the week to do a bible study + journal, my heart slows down and I can adjust my mindset. During this time I will free write, name off answered prayers, read a devotion, pray, and spend a few minutes in the quiet. On other days, I like to do a five minute devotion on the Bible App. It helps me find a calm headspace right away in the morning! 2. an earlier bedtime routineI am going to gradually get into bed earlier. Right now, I haven't been falling asleep until midnight and it's getting a little out of hand. Mainly because my husband and I have been staying up late playing trivia games on Youtube, lol. My new goal is to start getting ready for bed at 9:30pm and be in bed by 10pm. This will help slow my mornings down and prevent me from feeling so rushed! 3. low energy activitiesLately, I am pretty tired from 7-9pm. My husband and I both work full-time and we have a five year old son. As of now, after we put our son to bed, I am propped in front of the tv, until I have energy to move again! I know rest is important, but I'd like to at least spend one of those hours doing something different, that is also low energy. My goal is to read a few chapters of a book or do some trip planning. Recently, I've been snuggling into my bed for this time, but I think the move would be to switch to the couch, so I'm less likely to doze off! 4. making space in my calendarThis month, I'd like to purposely create more space in my calendar for rest, self-care, and decluttering. I spend a lot of my weekend cleaning. I know if I spend a little time a week decluttering, I will ultimately spend less time cleaning my house! That means more quality time with my family and more time to travel. :) Thanks for stopping by! I hope this post helps you find a few ways to slow down this month and prioritize things you really enjoy. It is so easy to get lost in a new season and find yourself rushing around! Take a minute.
