We have a family tradition of taking an end of the school year trip and this year, we ended up in Maine! My parents had already visited a few times before and enjoyed themselves, so we wanted to try it out as a family. It was a long day of flying, but eventually we made it to Manchester, New Hampshire. Exhausted, we stayed the night at a Homewood Suites and decided to hit the road to Maine in the morning! Camden was our first stop on the list, although we were too anxious to take pictures by the water and grab food. We hopped out at Bath for a few pictures and then found ourselves in Boothe Bay by the water for some lunch. We ate at a crab and lobster house called Kalers, that had a perfect view of the harbor.  Dad got the clam chowder and he said it was one of the best he's ever had!  Momma went for the scallops, I think they almost speak for their self, even though I'm not a seafood lover! She raved how perfectly cooked they were.  I got a chicken quesadilla. How basic right? But when I'm super hungry I get scared that something new might not fill me up. After lunch we explored the boardwalk and popped into a few shops.     Later in the afternoon and a few more hours of driving, we made it to Camden.  This is by FAR one of the most quaint and adorable hotels that I've ever stayed in. The Lord Camden Inn is located right next to the harbor and has a killer view if you snag a room on the third floor! The hallways were lined with brick and detailed molding that made staying there feel like an ancient castle. I'm really kicking myself because I didn't take any pictures of the front part of the hotel. Favorite part of my stay here: The free breakfast. I was incredibly impressed with the huge selection and effort that went into building such a pretty buffet. On top of that, they had an AMAZING assortment of freshly brewed coffee.  Found an awesome dive bar called "Cuzzy's" two blocks away from our hotel. It was so cozy and had great food we went back a second time for dinner! We are a margarita pizza lovin' family so we had to order our fav for lunch!  Behind our hotel, we found this colorful and charming ice cream shop. I think we wandered back here almost everyday, they had so many options and the lady who was working there was kind and bubbly. Also- everyday they pick a state and if you are traveling from there, you show them your license, and you get free ice cream. HOW COOL!!! Our second day in Camden, we drove to the top of Mount Battie! They have a bunch of different hiking trails, so you could definitely spend a whole day on the mountain. My parents sure enjoyed the view. Be sure to bring along your camera!  We hoped to go on an afternoon sailing cruise, but the weather didn't cooperate. They rescheduled us for the following morning! Overall, we needed a night to relax and hangout anyway. We sailed with "Surprise."    Momma loves being a lonely bird haha. Ain't she cute though? She loves the ocean.   I was a little scared to help tackle because I'm kind of a weakling, but our guide ended up helping me out, thankfully! :)  If you've ever been sailing, you know it can get SUPER windy, meaning do not wear a dress haha. We wanted to hit a few lighthouses after and those are prime photo opps! So we ended up changing our outfits at a public restroom. I had fun time watching Hunt lug her entire suitcase into this stall! This is the Marshall Point lighthouse that was shot in the movie Forrest Gump. It was such a fun time exploring the grounds here, especially because we didn't have to pay anything. Free adventures are always the best!  Do we clash? Maybe, but Hunt definitely wore it better! From here, we made our way to Ogunquit where we stayed for the remainder of the trip. For the next four nights, we stayed at the Anchorage By The Sea.  My dad made us get up for a sunrise, which was definitely worth it.  On Friday we took an early train ride into Boston. Once there, we bought tickets for a Duck Tour, which I highly recommend! I'm definitely not that typical tour type, but having only one day in the city, we wanted to catch all we could. The tour pointed out just about everything you could want to see in Boston, and I'm glad we opted for this instead of walking the entire city in the hot weather. The best part? You get to see the city by street and by water! My parents are so cute.
After the tour we took refuge from the heat in a classy tavern to grab a bite to eat before exploring the city some more. From there we walked to the State House because my dad was adamant about taking a picture of Hunter and I in front of it. Then we made our way to the Granary Burial ground.  On Saturday we spent most of our time on the beach or shopping for souvenirs.  We spent our last day in Ogunquit exploring our favorite spots and taking all the photos we'd been wanting.  I expected Maine to be pretty, but it was so much more gorgeous than I imagined.
Hunt wanted to make another quick lighthouse stop before we left. I'm making a fist because we got there and it was under construction. We did get this artsy photo together though, so I forgave her. :)   *I would definitely have to say Camden was my most-loved place to stay.
