I have a confession to make. I am high key jealous of my roommate's sleeping habits. She goes to bed at like 9 p.m. and is up around 5 a.m. HOW?!?! Idk guys. So, I've tried my attempt at copying her. (Might as well call it what it is) Lol and by copying her I mean, I have taught myself to fall asleep by 11 p.m. and get up at 7 a.m. ;) Since that switch, I have learned to love following a nightly routine, especially since I started using my Smile Brilliant whitening kit. Before I start my routine, I like to check my email and spend extra time pinning. (I'm a little short on my follower goal for January!) Follow me on Pinterest if you like cool travel pics, artsy city guides, and blog tips. :) Around 9 p.m. is when I start to wind down for the night, unless I'm waitressing. The first thing I do is take out my at-home whitening kit. It takes anywhere from 45 minutes to three hours to whiten, so this is why I put my whitening trays in first. I use their T3 Sensitive System for light stains. You can browse their selection here. (This system is valued at $149, but I'll let you know why it's WORTH saving for and how you can enter to win a FREE system.) I like this product because of how easy it is to use. There's only three steps... 1. Make impressions (simple instructions) 2. Lab crafts your trays (mail your impressions and they send back your trays!) 3. Whiten @ home! (whiten your teeth while watching your fav Hallmark movie instead of in a dentist chair) I was excited to try Smile Brilliant because I've never been a big fan of the color or look of my teeth. I had braces and wore headgear/rubber bands for a few years in my teens. (Thanks mom and dad!!) They looked GREAT after that, I seriously remember feeling like a million bucks. However, with all great things, comes great responsibility. LIKE KEEPING TRACK OF A RETAINER. I swore I lost at least four of them. So here I am with a teeny tiny lil gap and I'm good with it! (Unless Invisalign wanna do a collab, hit me uppp then) That being said, glowing white teeth makes a teensy lil gap feel like nothing. I'm a happy girl. When it comes to color, I've tried my hand at whitening strips and while they keep them white temporarily, it doesn't last. I've only been using Smile Brilliant for two weeks and I am quite impressed. Take a look for yourself! After I put my trays in, I like to edit photos for any upcoming blog posts. (Don't eat or drink anything with your trays in, I just like to hold coffee in all my photos lol) I edit my photos using VSCO, but I'm thinking about saving up for Lightroom. What do you guys use? Let me know in the comments! Next, I fold laundry and pick up my room for an hour or so. During this time, I usually play one of my Spotify Daily Mix playlists (usually country). I'm trying to be on my phone less before bed and generally, cleaning helps with that.
Once everything is tidied, I like to shower or journal until I get sleepy. Normally, I journal and do a devotion in the morning, so this journal sesh is more of a free-write. I try to write down a couple things I'm thankful for and any reflections I have about the day. (Like unimportant blabber that would annoy anyone but God lol)
Around 10 or 11 p.m., I take out my whitening trays, rinse/dry them off, and squeeze in the desensitizing gel. I love this product because using a whitening gel when you have sensitive teeth, can be pretty uncomfortable. However, this product felt cool on my gums and quickly relieved any discomfort I had. After I brush my teeth, I put the trays back in and watch Food Network for 15 to 20 minutes. Then, I'm off to bed! This routine isn't glamorous, but since I started using this whitening kit, I've learned to love my smile a little more. (Ya cheesy as heck but whatever) I've noticed doing a little something for me is nice, especially when I get to do it every night. Invest in a happier you, guys. (And if you got no money, enter my drawing below cause hey who doesn't want white teeth!!!) You guys know I'm a stickler about spending, that's why I am STOKED to announce this giveaway! Smile Brilliant is giving one of YOU a FREE whitening kit. (Valued at $149) Click here to enter your name! It's only open for 7 DAYS so claim your spot to win NOW! This past week my dad, sister, and I found the world's best breakfast burrito. Okay maybe not world's best, but surely the best burrito I've ever had. We made this discovery in a tiny town called Deadwood, South Dakota. The coolest part? We didn't even have to leave our hotel to find it. Let me give you a taste of what a breakfast in Deadwood is really like... The Deadwood Mountain Grand hotel is basically tucked into the side of a mountain and was previously an old slime plant. (A place that extracts gold from slime) Read more about the hotel's history here. The Grand Grille is to the left of the casino right when you walk in the front entrance. It has a classy interior and warm paint colors that made it feel cozy. Somehow, we found ourselves eating here five times over the course of the trip. However, we all agreed their breakfast was our favorite. The host/waitress brought us waters from the start. (Always love that) Then we had their coffee as well and man that was good too. We had breakfast there three separate times, so I can confidently say it is a lovely place to start your morning. Our favorites: *Morning Breakfast Burrito (OF COURSE!) *Mini Waffles *Breakfast Trio Sliders *French Toast Important deets: *Price range- $5 to $10 (uh well worth the money cause EVERYTHING is so darn fresh) *Opens at 6:30am everyday (PERFECT for when you check out early) *They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner *The bar has a separate menu, but you can ask for the bar menu and order it in the restaurant. *Their house moscato is wonderful *During off season, you may have the whole restaurant to yourself lol Deadwood is one of the most charming mountain towns I've ever visited. If you find yourself here, whether to ski or see a concert, try The Grand Grille. As my sister said throughout our whole trip, "breakfast there is my favorite part of the day."
