Sioux Falls, South Dakota The last time I went to Falls Park I didn't even make it to the Falls. It was the Fourth of July and the Sioux Falls parade was in full swing. Streets were closed, crowds were forming, and Trey was waiting for me in the car. I dodged families and lawn chairs for ten minutes before I realized I couldn't even see the Falls. Then I imagined the traffic I'd encounter if I waited for it to be over. I never made it. Luckily, my sister had a race in Sioux Falls yesterday and I was excited to try again. We only had a couple hours, but here's a quick guide for exploring the park. Grab a bite with a view On arriving in Sioux Falls, we planned on checking out the restaurant, Falls Landing. Instead, my dad suggested we went to the Falls first and scope out a place closer to the water. I could not have been happier. Sitting on the edge of the water was the cutest little cafe called, Falls Overlook Cafe. The inside of this place was a dream. Big windows, high ceilings, fresh flowers, and light wood tables. It was raining so we couldn't sit on their patio, but it had a coolest view of the park. My mom ordered wine, cheesecake, and a BLT. Dad ordered beer, Chicken Tortilla soup, and a Reuben. I ordered the Bacon Gouda Quesadilla. All food items were delicious. You don't always get great food and a great view! It was pretty inexpensive considering their location and quality of food they sell too. Tip: They have live music on Fridays from May to September! Get up close Explore the park's 123 acres and get close enough to feel the mist from the rushing water. It was raining quite a bit, but it enhanced the colors of the grass and rock which made for some fun photos. If Queen Bee Mill interests you, walk around and check out its remains. Tip: Leave your car at the cafe, everything is within walking distance! In addition to that, leave your wallet in your car, cause this park is free! (Well maybe bring it for the gift shop.) Walk to the Lookout Tower This place is hard to miss. It's off to the right if you're standing on the patio of the cafe. We did this last so we wouldn't back track to our car. The tower has an awesome view of the city and park. Plus, it's attached to the visitor center which has a gift shop! Their t-shirts were hella cute and like ten bucks?! Kicking myself for not buying one. Tip: The bridge leading to the tower is the perfect place to get a good shot of the Falls. This park was super tourist friendly. We visited on a Friday and had no difficulty getting around! I'm excited to explore the rest of Sioux Falls someday. Last tip: Don't skip this place during the winter. They decorate the park with thousands of lights! This little trip was a big example of God's timing for me. I was determined to find this place on the Fourth and He knew I needed more time to soak in such a pretty place like this. Learning a lil' more everyday. *Do you have extra tips for the Falls? *Is this a good spot for sunrise or sunset? *What has God been teaching you lately?
